Preparing For Your First Workout
It’s important to prepare yourself for what to expect in your first week working out. Here are some tips to make sure your new exercise routine is a success. - Healthy-Woman.net Editor
Exercising needs to be fun and enjoyable if you’re going to stick to it. The first week of an exercise program is pivotal in determining whether you’ll stick to it or not. If you don’t follow through with your resolution it can have psychological consequences such as feelings of guilt that work against your goals. Here are some ways to make your first workout week a success.
First of all, don’t be too hard on yourself especially if you haven’t been active before this. You can use your first week as a way to slowly break into your new exercise routine. Once you’ve mastered it, you can increase the intensity of the program in future weeks.
Check in with your inner voice to be sure you’re being supportive and not saying negative things like, “You won’t ever change. You’ll never make it.” Don’t let the voice in your head dictate your goals, schedule and future. The first week is a time to work on consistency not perfection so don’t beat yourself up if it doesn’t feel like it’s happening easily.
