Preparing For Your First Workout

Remember that you’ll be a little sore after 24 hours. Don’t let this set you back. Instead, think of your muscles working hard and responding to your efforts, beginning to tone already. Exercise experts say that once you get past the first two weeks you’ve established a new pattern and are well on your way. The old saying “You are what you eat” still holds true even when you’re exercising but don’t restrict your diet at this point. Try drinking water a couple of times a day instead of the snack you were about to grab but remember that you’ll be burning up calories with your new program.
Your first week’s workout can be 30 to 40 minutes long to get your body used to it. During the first week a positive mindset is important to help you enjoy it and have fun. It’s okay to feel bored or frustrated. Remember to see how you feel after you finished your workout. Do you feel any different physically in terms of your energy level, sense of accomplishment or purpose? Write down your thoughts in a journal so you can track your progress.
Your attitude is what will keep you going. Yogi Bhajan says, “Keep up and you’ll be kept up”.
